Even the 'turn it off for a while then turn it back on' trick isn't working...it's been dead for more than a day now. Calling the landlord this morning...I hope I can get her to understand that this is a chronic, intermittent issue, and I *really* hope it stays 'not working' until after she can come look at it.

Sigh.
